How To Make DIY Nail Polish Using TKB Bases and Color Concentrates

1. TKB Nail Polish Bases & Top Coats
We carry two different kinds of uncolored nail polish bases for you to start your DIY nail project!
TKB Nail Polish Luster Base is our standard nail polish base which takes the addition of mica or TKB Nail Polish Concentrates.
If you’re planning to use glitter in your nail polish, we recommend our TKB Nail Polish Glamour Base instead. This base is thicker to prevent glitter from sinking to the bottom of a nail polish bottle.
TKB Clear and Matte top coats are also available for the perfect desired finish!
2. TKB Nail Polish Concentrates
TKB Nail Polish Concentrates are pre-colored nail polishes made with FDA permitted color additives. TKB Nail Polish Concentrates are not a finished nail lacquer.
Mix TKB Nail Color Concentrates with either of our nail polish bases to create a finished nail polish! A little goes a long way. If you add too much concentrate, the polish will be likely to flake, take too long to dry or stain the nail.
We recommend adding between 5-20 drops of TKB Nail Color Concentrate per nail polish bottle filled with an uncolored base, depending on the size.
3. Powder Colors for Nail Polish

5-10% of color or 2-3 pea-sized amounts of powder pigment or mica is needed for one standard nail polish bottle. Best to use a combination of powder and liquid concentrate for an opaque finish!
If using glitter for your nail polish, make sure to test the glitter first since not all of them are “solvent approved”. We test by adding glitter to the nail polish base and letting sit for up to 2 weeks.
