This recipe is surprisingly easy to make, if you have all the right equipment and ingredients. Cost for the raw materials is less than $30 and you will be able to make enough base for 8-10 full size lipsticks.  Process takes about 45 minutes.

Must Have Equipment:

Two heat-resistant 1-cup containers

Double Boiler set up.  Please do not use a microwave for this project

A heat-resistant spatula

A heat-resistant tongs or hot pads for handling your hot containers

Small bowls to weigh out your ingredients

Scale

For safety and hygiene:  Alcohol, latex gloves, eye protection, dust mask

Air tight cosmetic containers to store your base

Recommended Equipment:

Mini Mixer

Pipettes to measure out the liquid ingredients

Some zip lock bags and a scissors.

Matte Liquid Lip Stick Recipe

Silica Microsphere Silica 1 gram
Phase C Wax (either Beeswax or Sunflower Wax) Cera Alba (Beeswax) or Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax 3 grams
Preservative Cap-2 Preservative Cap-2 2-3 drops

Step by step with photos and instruction

 1.Gather your tools and rinse with alcohol before use. 

  1. Weigh your ingredients

 

  1. Mix Phase A ingredients together. Mix until completely dissolved.This
    process will take 5~10 minutes.

 

  1. Add Phase B to Phase A mixture.

  1. Using spatula or Mini Mixer mix until you see no more clumps.

  1. Heat Phase C to 80 degrees Celsius over a double boiler.

  1. Heat Phase A+B to 70 degrees Celsius.

  1. Take off heat. Add Phase A+B to Phase C with mixing.

  1. Add 2 drops of Preservative Cap-2 and continue mixing until temperature reduces to 45 degrees Celsius (warm to the touch).

  1. Transfer the base into a zip lock bag.

  1. Snip off the corner and fill in air tight containers.

Add Color to your Matte Liquid Lipstick Base

To make ONE LIPSTICK:

Tools:

Small Mixing Bowl
Small Spaturla
Pipette
10ml Syringe,
Empty Lip Gloss Tube

Ingredients:

MyMix Matte Liquid Base: 2 level teaspoons
TKB's DTTD: 1/8 tsp
TKB's Red #7: 3/4 tsp
TKB's Dimethicone 1.5: 0.5ml

Step by step with photos and instruction

1. Measure your Ingredients. Red-3/4 tsp, DTTD-1/8 tsp.

2. Mix Dimethicone 0.5 ml with DTTD to prevent clumps.

3. Now, add your Red and wetted DTTD into a zip lock bag and mix well.

4. Add the MyMix Matte Liquid Base.

5. Mix until you see no more clumps.

6.Snip corner off the bag and fill up your syringe.

7. Transfer to your Lip Gloss Tube.
