What You’ll Make

A smooth, glossy lip gloss using Luxe Base (Flexagel ME) enhanced with shimmer — introducing mica control without the risk of speckling.

Batch Size: 50 g

Makes approximately five 10 g gloss tubes.

Ingredients

• Luxe Base (Flexagel ME) – 45 g

• Lip-Safe Mica – 3–5 g

• Lip Liquid Color – 0.5 g (optional)

• Flavoring Oil – 0.25–0.5 g

(Do not exceed 10% total additions.)

Simple Steps

1. Weigh 45 g of Luxe Base (Flexagel ME) into a mixing cup.

2. Slowly add mica while stirring gently.

3. Mix thoroughly until fully dispersed.

4. Add Lip Liquid (optional) and stir.

5. Add Flavoring Oil and mix carefully.

6. Allow bubbles to rise before filling tubes.

Understanding: Powders Disperse — They Do Not Dissolve

When we say powders disperse, we mean that the particles spread evenly throughout the base but do not chemically melt or dissolve into it.

Dissolve: Like sugar in water — the material disappears completely.

Disperse: Like cocoa powder in milk — the particles remain present but are evenly distributed.

In gloss systems, mica and pigments stay as tiny suspended particles. That is why slow, thorough mixing is essential. If you see specks, it usually means the powder has not been fully dispersed yet — keep mixing.

What You’re Learning

• How mica disperses in oil-based systems

• How shimmer affects opacity

• How to control intensity

• How proper mixing prevents speckling

Maker Guidelines

• Add mica gradually — 3 g creates soft shimmer; 5 g creates stronger payoff.

• Mix slowly and patiently.

• If you see specks, continue mixing — dispersion takes time.

• Let gloss rest before filling.

This is Level 2 of your Foundation Series. Once mastered, you are ready to explore deeper color control.
