Our newsletters are created with the following:
- Shopify (template)
- Canva (to create media like banners and photos to add to the template)
When creating a newsletter template from scratch, you can start with Canva to create the graphics. Note that some of our newsletter media and banners are already saved in Canva, so check first before creating a new media (Canva > Projects > Folders > TKB Newsletter Templates). If you must build a banner or media from scratch, click "Create a design". You can either customize the size or select an existing one. Here are some options:
- Choose "Instagram Post". Its size is 1080px x 1080px (a square). 1080px is the most optimal width.
- Custom Size: If you don't want a square, multiple or divide 1080px by 2 to get a different height. Make sure 1080px is your width.
Be creative! You can create static media (export as PNG) or media with moving graphics/words, so long as you export the file from Canva as a GIF. Once you have your media, log into Shopify to create a template.
If you are creating a ONE TIME newsletter (sale, product feature, etc.) :
Shopify > Marketing > Campaigns > Create Campaign > Shopify Email > Select from "Branded Templates" or "Previous emails" > If previous email, Duplicate. It's better to duplicate a previous email that already has our logo and standard things we would mention at the bottom like "follow us on social media" and "contact our support team", etc. Just make sure to update the subject line, media content and the name of the email
Remember to preview the email and send yourself a test email before sending it out to our customers.
